Harried Pursuit Through Ryde Streets
The drama kicked off at 10.20am in Preston Close when the driver ignored police orders. Officers gave chase along Ashey Lane, Smallbrook Lane, and Great Preston Road in a tense tail through Ryde’s backstreets.
Driver Ditches Car and Flees on Foot
The suspect abandoned the Hyundai at Sutton Close and bolted into nearby grassland. Police lost sight of the vehicle but immediately called in the Hampshire Dog Unit to track the fleeing man.
Police Helicopter Circles Oakfield Estates
The Bournemouth-based police helicopter is now hovering over Oakfield estates, scanning for any sign of the wanted man. An Isle of Wight Police spokesperson confirmed: “Officers pursued after the driver failed to stop at Preston Close.”
