Sussex Police Raid Illegal Woodland Rave Near Chichester
Swift Action to Shut Down Unlicensed Party
Police in Sussex moved fast to crack down on an illegal rave in Charlton Wood, near Midhurst, just north of Chichester. The unlicensed music event was reported in the early hours of Sunday, sparking an immediate police response.
Officers blocked off roads around the woodland to stop more revellers from arriving and to control the situation on site.
Officers Secure the Scene
Superintendent Shane Baker told reporters, “We acted swiftly to identify the woodland site when we were alerted that people were making their way to a rave in the county. Officers are there attempting to identify and liaise with the organisers of the illegal gathering.”
Police confirmed their top priority is ensuring public safety — both for locals nearby and those already at the event.
Focus on Safety and Law Enforcement
“Our priority is ensuring the safety of the community and those in the vicinity as we assess how the rave can be closed down safely and effectively,” added Superintendent Baker. “Where offences are seen to be committed, we will take action.”
The police are also investigating possible offences such as traffic violations linked to the event.
Residents Urged to Stay Clear
Local residents in Midhurst and Chichester have been advised to avoid affected roads and stay patient while police carry out the operation.
Sussex Police thanked the community for their cooperation and promised to provide updates as the illegal rave is dismantled.
