Baby Found Abandoned in Garden Bin in Grimsby
A newborn baby boy was shockingly discovered in a brown garden waste bin on a quiet Grimsby estate at around 5pm on Sunday.
A concerned local heard crying coming from the bin. They lifted the lid to find the infant lying among grass cuttings.
Emergency Services Rush to Save Baby and Mother
The boy was rushed to hospital and is currently receiving treatment. His young mother was also found and taken to hospital, where authorities are caring for her.
Humberside Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service responded swiftly after being alerted shortly before 5pm.
At least four police vehicles and two ambulances swarmed the scene. Officers were seen knocking on doors and speaking to stunned residents.
“We received a call at 4:58pm on June 19 to a private address in Grimsby,” said an East Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman. “Two patients were transported to Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.”
Calm Returns After Police Reassure Public
Police set up a cordon and conducted door-to-door inquiries on Winchester Avenue, where families and retirees live in semi-detached and terraced homes.
“Officers are on the scene following reports of safety concerns earlier this evening,” said Humberside Police. “Those in need have received assistance. There are no issues or risks to the general public.”
The community remains shaken but relieved that the baby is now safe and receiving care.
