Eight Kids Narrowly Escape as Roof Collapses in Harrow
Chaos on Durry Road
Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) rushed to a house on Durry Road, Harrow, on Tuesday evening after reports of a roof collapse. The drama unfolded around 7pm when the roof of an upstairs bedroom suddenly gave way, crashing into the back garden.
Kids Lucky to Be Safe
Eight children had been playing in the upstairs bedroom moments before and miraculously avoided serious injury. The falling roof narrowly missed neighbours, sparking panic in the quiet street.
Emergency Response and Safety Measures
Specialist fire crews, including urban search and rescue (USAR) teams, were deployed alongside standard appliances. Firefighters used a long ladder to inspect the damaged detached property. Meanwhile, gas, water, and electricity supplies were cut off as a safety precaution.
“It was quite a crash, we wondered what was going on!” said a local resident.
Aftermath and Precautions
The property remains cordoned off with a 25-metre safety perimeter. The family has taken refuge with relatives while emergency teams continue their assessment.
