Three injured as lorry overturns in nasty four-vehicle smash on M25

Three people have been rushed to hospital after a serious four-vehicle crash involving an overturned lorry on the M25 anticlockwise between Junction 29 (Romford/A127) and Junction 28 (Brentwood/A12) this afternoon.

The collision happened at around 2:15pm on Tuesday, 17 June, triggering a major emergency response. Paramedics, firefighters, and the air ambulance all scrambled to the scene.

Rapid Response from Emergency Services

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service confirmed:

“We were called at 2:15pm to a road traffic collision on the anticlockwise M25 between junctions 29 and 28. Three ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle, and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. Two patients were taken by road to Basildon University Hospital, and one to Queen’s Hospital.”

Firefighters Rescue Casualty from Wreckage

Crews from Essex County Fire & Rescue Service and the London Fire Brigade turned out to tackle the aftermath of the crash.

Although no one was trapped, firefighters had to rescue one casualty from the vehicle wreckage.

“We were called at 14:26 to reports of a road traffic collision involving four vehicles, including an overturned lorry,” said a London Fire Brigade spokesperson. “We sent one fire engine and one fire rescue unit, supported by Essex Fire and Rescue.”

Major Traffic Chaos and Road Closures

The anticlockwise carriageway of the M25 was shut, causing miles of tailbacks. Traffic was also snarled on the clockwise side where the air ambulance landed.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area and follow the official Hollow Square diversion route to dodge the jams.
