Chaos on M3! Westbound lanes shut after multi-vehicle crash
M3 Westbound Closed Between J7 and J8
The M3 in Hampshire is currently closed westbound between junctions 7 and 8 following a serious multi-vehicle collision. Hampshire Police and emergency crews are at the scene dealing with the aftermath.
Follow The ‘Solid Triangle’ Diversion
Drivers heading westbound on the M3 should leave at junction 7 and follow the ‘Solid Triangle’ diversion signs. The route takes you:
- At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A30 link road towards Basingstoke.
- At the next junction, turn left onto the A30 heading for Winchester.
- After around 2 miles, at the T junction with the A30 link road to the A303, turn right.
- Join the A303 westbound for 6 miles to the A34 Bullington Cross interchange.
- Exit and at the T junction turn left, then at the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A34 southbound towards Winchester.
- Continue for 8 miles to M3 junction 9 and rejoin the M3 westbound via the 3rd exit.
Northbound Lanes Also Affected
Meanwhile, the northbound M3 is also impacted. All lanes are currently held between junction 8 (A303 Popham) and junction 7 (A30 Dummer) due to the incident on the southbound side. Expect delays of around an hour from Winchester Services.
