Serious Crash Shuts Down M25 Clockwise Near Godstone
A nasty smash involving two cars and a lorry has forced the closure of the clockwise carriageway of the M25 in Surrey. The chaos is causing major traffic headaches for drivers in the area.
Crash Blocks M25 Between Junction 5 and 6
The collision happened between Junction 5 (A21, Chipstead) and Junction 6 (Godstone), prompting emergency services—including Surrey Police—to rush to the scene. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on site, working hard to keep traffic moving and help stranded motorists.
Drivers Face Delays – Follow Diversion Signs
Motorists heading clockwise on the M25 should brace for delays of up to 30 minutes. To avoid gridlock, drivers are urged to follow the hollow triangle diversion signs. The recommended alternative route is to exit at Junction 5 onto the A21, then take the second exit onto the A25 towards Reigate (postcode RH2 9). From there, drivers rejoin the M25 at Junction 6 (Godstone Interchange) for Gatwick Airport.
Travel experts advise motorists to allow extra time or consider postponing journeys if possible until the motorway reopens.
