Marks & Spencer Launches New Clothing Repair Service

Marks & Spencer is diving into sustainable fashion with a brand-new repair and alteration service launching this August. Teaming up with SOJO, experts in clothing repair, M&S is making it easier than ever to give your favourite clothes a second life.

Fix It Fast with M&S Fixed by SOJO

The service, called M&S Fixed by SOJO, lets customers book bespoke repairs online. Prices start from just £5, and SOJO’s skilled in-house team will fix your items before delivering them straight back to your door within seven to ten days. It’s quick, convenient, and wallet-friendly.

Big Brand Backs Sustainable Fashion

SOJO was launched in 2021 by Josephine Phillips with the mission to stop clothes going to landfill and extend their lifespan. Speaking about the partnership, Richard Price, M&S’s managing director of clothing and home, said:

“Through the launch of our repair service, we’re making it even easier for customers to give their clothes another life, whether they are using our new repair service or long-standing clothes recycling scheme.”

The UK’s Wardrobes Are Full of Forgotten Clothes

New data from climate group WRAP reveals a shocking 1.6 billion clothing items in UK wardrobes are sitting unworn – an average of 31 items per person. M&S hopes its repair service will slash this waste by encouraging shoppers to fix rather than ditch their clothes. This new offer builds on M&S’s popular donation scheme with Oxfam, which has so far collected over 36 million items, raising roughly £23 million for poverty relief worldwide.

Josephine Phillips, SOJO’s founder and CEO, shared her excitement:

“It has always been a core mission of ours at SOJO to make repairing clothes mainstream and to extend the life of as many garments as possible. I’m so excited that M&S has chosen to launch a repair service with us at SOJO – it’s an incredibly big step towards that mission.”

“As a brand that has remained a firm constant in almost every household and wardrobe in Britain, this partnership will truly bring easy, accessible, and convenient repairs to the masses. Beyond that, as one of the longest-standing British brands, having M&S join our Pledge to Repair adds such a great weight to our call for industry-wide change here in the UK.”

Looks like fixing your fave clothes is about to get a whole lot easier – and cheaper. Sustainable fashion fans, rejoice!
