Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Emergency Response Policing Team E (ERPT E) and East Area Proactive Team have been formally commended for their “exceptional professionalism, bravery, teamwork, and commitment” after a dramatic life-saving incident in May 2024.
Rapid Response to Horror Attack in Whalebone Lane South
The teams sprang into action when called to a major emergency where a victim suffered severe gunshot and stab wounds.
East Area Proactive officers provided urgent first aid at the scene, playing a crucial role in saving the victim’s life before paramedics arrived.
Swift Justice: Suspect Caught Within an Hour
Working seamlessly together, ERPT E and the Proactive Team secured the crime scene, identified eyewitnesses, and collected vital CCTV footage.
Thanks to their swift and professional efforts, police found, identified, and arrested a suspect within just one hour of the emergency call.
Multiple Arrests After Coordinated Police Effort
The victim’s life was saved, and critical evidence preserved. This led to the primary suspect’s arrest and charges, along with three others linked to the case.
“This exceptional police work exemplifies the highest standards of policing. Their commitment to protecting lives and bringing offenders to justice is an inspiration to us all,” said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
PS Wiseman of the East Area Proactive Team received a personal commendation for outstanding teamwork and life-saving actions at the ceremony.
The Met continues to emphasise that frontline policing and teamwork are vital in protecting Londoners and tackling violent crime swiftly.
