Eleven-year-old Kaliyah Coa vanished after entering the River Thames near Barge House Causeway, East London. The alarm was raised at 1:23pm on Monday, March 31, when Kaliyah, who was playing during a school inset day, disappeared into the water.

Massive Search Shifts to Recovery Operation

Emergency teams, including the Metropolitan Police, rushed to the scene within minutes to launch a large-scale search. Despite exhaustive efforts using drones, boats, and specialist units, Kaliyah remains missing. The operation has now transitioned from search to recovery.

Chief Superintendent Dan Card, in charge of policing north east London, said,

“Our specialist officers are supporting Kaliyah’s family through this deeply upsetting time, and our thoughts go out to all those impacted by what has happened.” “We’re committed to finding Kaliyah and are working with partners to comb the area thoroughly—using the latest drone technology and boats.” “Thank you to the public, first responders, and emergency services who acted swiftly during this distressing situation.” “We know this has shaken the local community. Authorities are calling on anyone who saw the incident or has vital information to contact them immediately:
