Man assaulted with metal pole after asking for parking space

Brutal attack after parking row

A motorist was viciously attacked with a metal pole, suffering serious head and arm injuries. The incident unfolded around 6.50pm on Tuesday 7 May 2024 after the victim asked a man to move so he could park on Centre Road.

Suspect strikes after victim parks car

Once the victim parked, the suspect suddenly opened his car door and launched the brutal assault. The attack continued outside the vehicle, with the suspect striking the man several times before the victim managed to disarm him and drive away.

Suspect in custody but investigation ongoing

Police have arrested a 40-year-old man from Dunton Green on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He’s currently on bail with conditions to return to the police station on 1 August.

Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage and believe other car park witnesses may have vital information.

Police appeal for witnesses
