M&S Reserves Opening Hours for NHS and Emergency Staff Amid Panic Buying Chaos
Marks & Spencer has rolled out special store hours exclusively for NHS and emergency service workers. The move comes as panic buying continues to wreak havoc, leaving shelves empty and frontline heroes struggling to grab essentials after long shifts.
First Hour of Trading Reserved for NHS and Vulnerable Shoppers
The supermarket giant said it’s prioritising support for key workers and vulnerable customers during these tough times. A spokesperson revealed:
“Supporting our customers and communities during this difficult time is our number one priority.
We want to make sure everyone has access to the items they need, so we are setting aside the first hour of trading on certain days for our older and vulnerable customers, and for our brilliant NHS and emergency workers.
For older and vulnerable customers, this will start tomorrow, Friday 20th March, and continue on Mondays and Thursdays.
For NHS and emergency workers, dedicated hours will be on Tuesdays and Fridays.”
Note: This does not apply to M&S franchises located in petrol stations and railway stations.
Panic Buying Pain Persists Despite Measures
Though several supermarkets have introduced reserved shopping hours, many elderly and vulnerable shoppers report that the chaos and panic remain. Shelves still clear out fast, making it hard for those who rely on these protected times.
Calls Grow for Tougher Action Against Hoarders
Shoppers and advocacy groups are demanding stricter controls to stop bulk buyers from wiping out stock and leaving nothing for others.
As panic buying shows no sign of easing, efforts to shield NHS workers and vulnerable customers from empty shelves remain crucial.
