Power Blackout Hits Nearly 1,000 Homes in Maidstone Area

Underground Cable Fault Sparks Major Outage

Almost 1,000 homes across nine postcodes in Maidstone and nearby areas plunged into darkness last night. UK Power Networks confirmed the blackout started just before 9pm, caused by a fault in an underground high-voltage cable.

Engineers Scramble to Restore Power

UK Power Networks says specialist engineers are already on their way to fix the issue affecting 771 properties. They’re also trying to reroute power remotely, offering hope that some homes will see the lights back on any minute now. However, this won’t restore power to everyone.

Power Return Expected by Midnight — But Could Change

Field teams are heading out to inspect the faulty equipment on-site. “Every fault is different,” a UK Power Networks spokesperson warned. “We currently aim to have power back by between 11:30pm and 12:30am, but this may shift depending on what the engineers find.”
