Meet Elouise: NHS Nurse by Day, Firefighter by Night
Elouise is no ordinary mum. Juggling life as a mother of two and stepmum to three, she’s also a dedicated on-call firefighter with Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS). Combining her NHS nursing skills with firefighting duties, Elouise is rallying the people of Weald and mid-Kent to join her before applications slam shut this Sunday, November 3.
Family, Firefighting & NHS Skills Save Lives
For three years, Elouise has balanced NHS shifts, family time, and social life around on-call fire duties. Her healthcare expertise brings vital compassion and calm to the Cranbrook fire crew.
“I love helping people,” Elouise said. “My NHS skills are invaluable at incidents. Our crew pools unique talents—we work better together.”
Firefighter Training Covers It All
Elouise trains weekly at Cranbrook Fire Station. From water rescues and HGV driving to working at heights and breathing apparatus drills, no stone is left unturned. Inspired by her dad’s 15 years as an on-call firefighter, she’s proud to follow in his footsteps.
“Flexibility is key,” Elouise explains. “I usually cover late evenings and weekends. When my pager sounds, I’m at the station and out on the engine within five minutes.”
