Nick Knowles Hits Back After Being Slated for ‘Copying’ Stacey Solomon’s Show
TV presenter Nick Knowles, one of Britain’s top telly stars, has fired a swift response after claims he copied Stacey Solomon’s hit decluttering show, Sort Your Life Out.
New Shows Clash on Air
Nick’s new Channel 5 series, New Year Clearout, launched this January – just as Stacey’s BBC decluttering show made its return. Both shows see celebrities helping messy families ditch their clutter. Naturally, the similarities sparked accusations that Nick lifted the idea from Stacey.
Nick Slams Copycat Claims
When a Twitter user grilled Stacey, asking, “What do you think about @MrNickKnowles essentially stealing your programme?”, Nick wasn’t having it.
“If you think they’re the same you haven’t seen both shows – and I think you’ll find neither of us is the first to make a decluttering show,” he shot back. “There have been many before us. And imagine if there was only one cooking show? Which of the hundreds would you pick?”
Timing and Tone Set the Shows Apart
Nick’s series began in August 2021, while Stacey’s debuted around Easter 2021. Both were likely filmed around the same time, making “copying” claims shaky.
More importantly, Nick highlighted a key difference: the psychological approach. When asked if families on his show get counselling, Nick explained:
“That’s why I spend so much time in the show trying to get to the psychological driver for their behaviour. Until you deal with that – it will revert back.”
Looks like Nick’s not just clearing clutter – he’s clearing the air too.
