Cleveland Police Crack Down on Off-Road Bikes in Middlesbrough and Thornaby
Three Bikes Seized in Targeted Raids
Cleveland Police have confiscated three off-road bikes across Middlesbrough and Thornaby as part of a serious crackdown on illegal and anti-social riding. The Matrix Team, backed by police drone surveillance, swooped on Saturday, May 10, to tackle these nuisance riders who have frustrated local communities.
Details of the Seizures
- Two bikes were seized on Woodville Avenue after officers stopped two young riders wearing balaclavas. Both were reported for driving offences with their parents present.
- A third bike was taken off a 16-year-old boy who had only just bought and rode the bike for the first time that day.
All three individuals are being processed for traffic-related offences under road traffic legislation.
“We are committed to addressing the disruptive and illegal use of off-road bikes in our communities,” a Cleveland Police spokesperson confirmed.
