Massive Blaze Erupts at Weymouth Council Depot

Fifteen fire engines and nearly 100 firefighters have been scrambled to tackle a major fire breaking out on Sunday afternoon at the Chickerell council depot on Putton Lane, Weymouth.

Gas Bottles Exploding as Flames Rage

Locals reported hearing gas bottles explode amid the roaring blaze. Fire crews from Wiltshire, Dorset, and Hampshire rushed to the scene. A large safety cordon is in place, with multiple nearby roads shut down.

Hundreds of Thousands in Damage to Refuse Trucks

The fire has devastated several refuse lorries parked in the yard. Each specialist refuse truck costs over £500,000 to build, meaning damage could run into the hundreds of thousands. Officials are still assessing whether homes within 100 metres need evacuating.
