Person Struck by Gatwick Express at East Croydon Station
Chaos hit East Croydon station this morning after a person was struck by the 8.42am Gatwick Express service from Victoria to Brighton.
The incident occurred as the train sped through platform 3 at around 9am. Emergency services rushed to the scene, including British Transport Police, fire crews, and London Ambulance.
Station Shut Down, Major Disruption Underway
East Croydon station was quickly closed following the tragedy. While some platforms remain open, trains are currently not stopping there. Passengers face significant delays as services are disrupted.
A Southern and Thameslink spokesperson said:
“We are sorry to confirm a person was struck by a train in the East Croydon area. We are working closely with Network Rail and emergency services to handle the situation sensitively and swiftly.

UPDATE: Trains Resume, But Disruptions Continue
By midday, trains started calling at East Croydon again. However, three platforms remain out of use, causing ongoing delays and disruption for commuters.
