Grandpa Loots Morrisons for Water Filters – Gets Banged Up!
A 67-year-old pensioner has been caged for nicking water filters from Morrisons stores across Peterborough and St Ives in a cheeky stealing spree.
Filter Theft Frenzy
Tony Isaac kicked off his sticky-fingered antics on December 5 at the Morrisons on Needingworth Road, St Ives. The sly septuagenarian shoved three Brita water filters into a black shopping bag and, bold as brass, paid for some groceries but legged it without coughing up for the filters.
Isaac didn’t quit there. Between December 5 and January 10, he returned five more times to the same store, filching even more filters every visit.
Same Scam, New Venue
The seasoned thief then targeted another Morrisons on Lincoln Road, Walton, Peterborough. On December 26 and January 5, Isaac pulled the same stunt — paying for some items but making off with unpaid water filters again.
Police Strike Big: 200 Filters Found
Police swooped on Isaac’s home in Yaxley on January 17. The raid uncovered nearly 200 stolen water filters hidden across his house and car — worth thousands of pounds.
Isaac pleaded guilty to seven counts of shop theft. On January 19, he was sentenced to 24 weeks inside at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court.
