Football legend Peter Crouch stole the show as he briefly ‘captained’ a Red Funnel ferry packed with buzzing festivalgoers en route to the Isle of Wight Festival. Wearing a hard hat and flashing his best pirate grin, Crouch entertained the crowd on board while heading to the four-day event.
Festival Kicks Off with Podcast and Euro 2024 Screening
Crouch is set to launch the festival with a live recording of his popular That Peter Crouch Podcast. Fans can also catch a screening of England’s Euro 2024 group clash against Denmark, making it a double treat for footie and music lovers alike.
Red Funnel Terminal Buzzes Despite Travel Warnings
Thousands flocked to the Red Funnel terminal at Southampton’s waterfront today. Despite warnings over travel disruption and occasional congestion, the ferry service sailed smoothly, carrying excited revellers to the island.
Before departure, passengers were warmed up by circus act The Inferno Sisters, who promised to get everyone in the festival spirit. They said, “We just can’t wait to get started and get people in the mood for the Isle of Wight Festival.”
Star-Studded Lineup and a Fiery Start
The festival lineup is packed with big names. Thursday night sees pop rockers Scouting for Girls take the stage, known for hit albums like Everybody Wants to Be on TV and their chart-topping debut.
Friday promises a blast with electronic legends The Prodigy, plus Johnny Marr and James Marriott lighting up the crowds.
Earlier on the island, black smoke from a golf buggy fire sent heads turning. Thankfully, festival officials quickly brought the blaze under control with no injuries reported.
