Thieves Swipe Disabled Man’s Specially Adapted Bike in Worthing

Sussex Police are hunting thieves who stole a disabled man’s bicycle in Worthing. The 66-year-old victim left his bike at the junction of Eirene Road and Eirene Avenue after a hospital dash following an accident on Monday, 20 May.

By the time he returned around 11pm, the silver Claud Butler bike—his lifeline—had vanished.

The bike isn’t just any bicycle. It’s specially adapted for the man, who is paralysed. All brakes and gears are fitted to the left-hand side to suit his needs. It also features a frame bag and unique accessories.

“This bike is crucial for his daily travel,” police stressed. “Its loss is a severe blow.”
