London Woman, 24, Missing for Over a Week – Family Pleads for Help
Maureen Gitau, 24, vanished without a trace after leaving her Evelyn Street, SE8 home around 8pm on Monday, 5 December. Family and friends’ attempts to reach her have come up empty, sparking a police search that started on Saturday, 10 December.
Last Known Whereabouts and Search Efforts
Maureen has ties to Lewisham, Charlton, Woolwich, and Deptford. Despite intensive efforts—including phone tracking, interviews, and visits to known addresses—police have yet to find her.
Detective Sergeant Clare Espline of Lewisham’s Missing Person Team said: “While there is no evidence Maureen has come to harm, the longer she’s missing, the deeper the worry grows for her family and friends. We’re urging anyone with information to come forward immediately.”
Family’s Heartbreaking Plea
Maureen’s mother, Jane, said: “It’s incredibly hard not having Maureen with us, especially over Christmas. She’s deeply loved and missed. Please, if you know anything, let us know. Maureen, please come home.”
