Spalding Stabbing Shocker: Killer Strikes Twice in One Horrific Night

Wayne Rule, 46, shocked a quiet Lincolnshire street by stabbing two men in a brutal rampage on 20 December 2021. The violence unfolded just yards apart in Cygnet Court, Spalding, leaving one victim dead and another fighting for life.

Knife Attack in Victim’s Home

Lincoln Crown Court heard how Rule barged into Darren Kirk’s flat, where he was with his partner. Rule pounded on the door before forcing his way inside and herding the couple into the kitchen. Moments later, he pulled a knife from under his sleeve and stabbed Darren repeatedly in the chest.

As Darren lay on the floor, Rule crouched down and plunged the knife into his back several times before fleeing the scene. Paramedics and police arrived swiftly but Darren sadly died 45 minutes later. A post-mortem revealed a wound was inflicted with “severe force” and shockingly, Darren had no defensive injuries.

Double Attack: Stabbed Another Man 12 Times

In a chilling detail, the court heard Rule had just stabbed another man — in his 40s — 12 times at a different address just half a mile away, less than an hour before Darren’s murder. Investigators found two bloodied knives at the first scene and a further blood-stained blade at Darren’s flat.

Family’s Pain and Killer’s Sentence

“My life felt like it was on hold since he was killed,” Darren’s daughter said. “I have been waiting for answers and it has consumed everything. Although we reconnected in the months before his death, I’ll never get to strengthen our relationship again.”

She added, “I want Wayne Rule to understand his actions have ruined not just my dad’s life but ours and his own.”

Rule pleaded guilty to Darren’s murder and the attempted murder of the other man at a hearing on 14 January. On 17 March, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

A police spokesperson commented: “His sentence reflects the severity of his crimes. Thanks to the dedicated investigation team, this violent offender will not be returning to society anytime soon.”
