Tragic Crash on A417 Claims Life of Baulking Woman
Fatal Collision Shuts Busy Oxfordshire Road
Officers were called at 12:13pm yesterday to a serious collision involving an HGV and two cars — a silver Mercedes and a red Mercury — at the A417 junction with the B4508.
A 72-year-old woman from Baulking was pronounced dead at the scene. Formal identification is pending, but her next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from police.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Sergeant Phil Hanham of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who sadly died as a result of this collision. On behalf of the force, I offer my sincere condolences.”
He added: “The crash happened just after midday on one of Oxfordshire’s busiest stretches. We urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to contact police on 101 or report online, quoting reference 43210326007.”
Injuries and Road Closure
- Two other people injured; one taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

- A417 closed for several hours during emergency response and investigation
“No arrests have been made,” Sgt. Hanham confirmed. He also thanked the public for their patience during the lengthy road closure while officers worked at the difficult scene.
