The raid was part of Operation Cludeo, the Neighbourhood Policing Team’s campaign to smash cycle theft in portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth. Thanks to tips from the public, officers have made big progress. They’re urging people to keep the intel coming by calling 101 or reporting anonymously via Crimestoppers.
Two Arrested in Southsea Bike Theft Sting
- A 22-year-old Southsea man is in custody, suspected of stealing one bike and plotting to nick another.
- An 18-year-old Southsea woman faces charges including conspiracy to steal, criminal damage under £5,000, and handling stolen goods.
Both remain behind bars as investigations continue.
Police Warn: Lock It Up and Beware Second-Hand Bikes
“We’re working hard to catch those behind Portsmouth’s cycle crime,” said Sergeant Richard Holland. “The public can help by reporting dodgy behaviour and always using a quality D-lock.
“Be cautious when buying second-hand bikes. We return any stolen goods to their rightful owners—even if bought in good faith.”
