Bus Crashes Into Woods Near Biggin Hill Airport – Major Emergency Response Underway
A serious road traffic collision has forced the full closure of Main Road both ways near Biggin Hill Airport this afternoon. Emergency crews rushed to the scene after an electric double-decker bus veered off the road and crashed into a wooded embankment just before 2pm.
Multiple Passengers Initially Reported Trapped
The crash happened near the junction with Nightingale Close at around 1:47pm. Early reports raised fears that several people might be trapped onboard, sparking a large-scale emergency operation. London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, police, and specialist teams swarmed the area.
Witnesses described a heavy emergency presence, including sirens blaring and helicopter activity soon after the collision.

A source from London Fire Brigade confirmed: “Crews from Biggin Hill, Addington, and Croydon’s Fire Rescue Units are at the scene. The double-decker bus fell down an embankment following the collision, but fortunately, no persons were trapped.”
