Hampshire Constabulary and nationwide forces face calls for a hefty funding injection – on par with NHS boosts – to tackle dangerously low officer numbers. Apter, representing frontline police, slammed the current state as untenable.

Top Brass Fight for Fair Funding Amid Mounting Pressure
Chief Constable Olivia Pinkney and Police and Crime Commissioner Michael Lane are pushing hard for fairer budgets to stop the force collapsing under pressure.
An official statement on the Lyndhurst incident said, “At the time police were dealing with a number of Grade 1 incidents, including a high-risk missing person, and no units were available to be deployed.”
