Brutal Enfield Murderer Jailed for 25 Years

A man convicted of murdering 23-year-old Russell Jordan Jones in Enfield has been locked up for 25 years after detectives cracked the savage case.

Random Attack on Young Man Chatting with Friends

Russell was chatting with pals on a street corner when a gang, wrongly thinking he was in a rival crew, launched a vicious assault. He was shot and stabbed in a horrifying, unprovoked attack.

Conviction and Sentencing at Old Bailey

Sherome Williams, 21, from Woodlands Road, Enfield, was found guilty of Russell’s murder on 14 June following a trial at the Old Bailey.

On 30 June, Williams was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 25 years behind bars.

Two other men, already convicted and sentenced to 29 years in January 2019, were involved in the killing.

Deadly Night in March 2018

In the early hours of 17 March 2018, Russell and friends stood in South Street, Enfield, when a masked group dressed in dark clothes approached them.

Without warning, the gang attacked. Russell was shot, fell into the road, then was stabbed repeatedly. One friend also suffered stab wounds. Paramedics battled to save him, but Russell died at the scene.

Detectives’ Tireless Hunt for Justice

Detective Sergeant Joanne Donoghue from the Met’s Specialist Crime North – Homicide Team said:

“On a freezing cold night in March 2018, Williams and others armed themselves with a sawn-off shotgun and knives before setting out in search of opposing gang members.”

“The group they targeted were not gang members—they were just young men chatting outside a shop.”

“The wickedness and ferocity of the attack, captured on CCTV, shocked even the most seasoned homicide detectives.”

Detectives worked around the clock, painstakingly analysing CCTV footage and cross-checking mobile phone data to nail the killers.

Justice has finally been served for Russell Jordan Jones and his grieving loved ones.
