Chaos at Rochester Station as Police Incident Halts Westbound Trains

Train services at Rochester railway station are in chaos after a police incident triggered major disruptions this morning. Westbound trains to Rochester have been suspended, leaving commuters stranded and delays expected until at least 5pm.

Southeastern Trains: No Stops at Rochester Westbound Until 3pm

Southeastern Trains confirmed that all services heading towards Sittingbourne will skip Rochester station until at least 3pm. The good news? Eastbound trains heading into London are still running as normal, so some journeys remain unaffected.

Thameslink Trains Also Hit, but Eastbound Still Running

Thameslink services from London towards Gillingham and Rainham won’t stop at Rochester. However, trains travelling back towards London will continue calling at Rochester as usual.

How to Get Around the Disruption

  • Travel to Strood station – just a short hop from Rochester – and pick up your connecting train there.
  • Or head to Chatham station and switch trains towards London, which includes stops back at Rochester.

For those heading from Rochester to Gillingham or Rainham, it’s best to change at Strood. Passengers coming from London to Rochester should disembark at Chatham and catch a return train stopping at Rochester.

Police Confirm Medical Incident Caused Delays

A police spokesperson said: “Officers are currently at the scene of a medical incident. Police were called at 11.46am and attended a private car park along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service.”

Plan Ahead or Prepare to Wait

Commuters are urged to check real-time updates via journey planners and station info boards before travelling. Allow extra time to reach your destination as delays continue to affect services at Rochester throughout the afternoon.
