Police in Newcastle are urgently searching for Reverend Captain Katherine Watson. The 50-year-old woman was last spotted around 1pm today near Heaton Road. Concerns for her welfare are mounting.
What She Was Wearing and Key Details
Katherine is described as a white woman, about 5ft 6in, slim build, with short light grey hair. She was last seen wearing a green hat, dark trousers, a dark hooded top, and carrying a backpack. She also has several distinctive arm tattoos and a military tattoo on her chest.
Military and Religious Background
Katherine’s story is remarkable. She joined the Army in 1992 at just 18 years old, serving in the Royal Military Police with tours in Bosnia, Croatia, and Northern Ireland. She became an officer in 1997 before leaving in 2002 to work in probation services. Katherine then trained for ordination and has been a key figure in Newcastle since 2007.
In 2020, she was appointed head of chaplaincy at NHS Newcastle Hospitals.
