Wickham Horse Fair Causes Major Road Chaos – Plan Ahead!
Police are warning drivers and visitors to brace for delays during the Wickham Horse Fair on Monday 21 May. Wickham Square will be shut to all traffic from noon on Sunday 20 May until 8pm Monday evening.
Road Closures to Snarl Traffic
The busy A334 will be closed from 5am to 8pm on Monday between the traffic lights at Blind Lane and the A32 roundabout. Horse boxes have a designated parking zone on the east side of the A334 between the north end of the Square and the Blind Lane/Titchfield Lane junction.
Any unauthorised vehicles left in banned areas will be towed without mercy, so watch out for plenty of clear signage warning drivers along the route.
Motorists Urged to Find Alternative Routes
If you’re not heading to the fair, avoid the traffic nightmare by taking alternative routes around Wickham. Authorities have set up a special emergency phone line for locals affected by restricted property access and have already informed residents directly.

Superintendent Alison Heydari said: “Wickham Horse Fair has a long history and is expected to attract over a thousand visitors this year. We have worked closely with local partners to make sure the event is safe for both visitors and residents.”
“If you are attending, get familiar with the road closures and parking arrangements. These measures help keep disruption to a minimum. High-visibility officers will be on site throughout the fair ready to deal with any issues.”
