RAC Rolls Out Nationwide Apprenticeship Scheme for Aspiring Mechanics
The RAC has launched a massive expansion of its flagship RAC Academy apprenticeship scheme, now open to aspiring mechanics all across England. The move means hopefuls can train as RAC patrols or RAC Mobile Mechanics, delivering expert vehicle repairs wherever needed. This marks the first time the scheme will be available in northern England, thanks to a new partnership with 123, setting up a national network for RAC apprenticeships. Since 2015, the RAC Academy has helped over 150 apprentices kickstart careers in the motor industry.

This industry-first national rollout aims to boost the UK’s automotive workforce by investing in structured training, real-world skills, and expert mentorship — a move hailed by education and industry leaders alike.
Rachael Owen, Business and Marketing Lead at Motor Trades GTA, said:
“We are thrilled to join forces with the prestigious RAC Academy. This partnership offers a real opportunity for young people across northern England to launch a rewarding motor industry career.”
