Tragedy at Ramsgate Pride: A minute’s silence will honour Fiongal Greenlaw and Jamie Meek, the wellness duo lost in the catastrophic Air India flight AI171 crash on 12 June.
Wellness Foundry Couple Among Air India Crash Victims
Fiongal and Jamie, who ran The Wellness Foundry in Lambeth and Ramsgate, were set to lead wellbeing workshops at Saturday’s Ramsgate Pride. They were passengers on the doomed London-bound Boeing 787 Dreamliner that went down shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport. Out of 242 souls on board, only one survived.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) confirmed 53 British nationals, including Fiongal and Jamie, perished in the disaster. Fiongal launched The Wellness Foundry in 2018 after a “profound spiritual awakening.” Jamie joined as co-director and head of events in March 2023.
Ramsgate Pride Mourns Lost Wellness Champions
Ramsgate Pride organisers expressed deep sorrow. They revealed they had spoken with the couple just hours before the crash. “Jamie was already brainstorming how to expand the wellbeing zone next year,” they said.
“The Ramsgate Pride team are devastated at the loss of Jamie and Fiongal. We only heard from them earlier in the day and they were so excited to get back to take part in Pride and run their workshops throughout the day.”
“We were so privileged to have such a lovely couple on the team who were passionate and enthusiastic about Pride and Ramsgate. They will be so very missed.”
A minute’s silence will be held after the Pride march at the community stage outside the Perico Lounge. Support is being offered to anyone affected by the tragedy.
