Tragic Find in Hunt for Missing Mother Rebecca Holdham

A heartbreaking discovery has been made in the search for Rebecca Holdham, the 38-year-old mother of two who vanished a week ago. On Sunday, September 7, Rebecca’s children returned home at 10am to find their mum missing. The keen horsewoman was last spotted at her home on the Park Estate near Hassocks in West Sussex.

Massive Search Launched

Concerned locals and police launched an extensive search operation, deploying drones, sniffer dogs, and a helicopter. Rebecca’s disappearance was described as “completely out of character,” sparking fears for her safety. Residents scoured the surrounding countryside and plastered the area with missing person posters, desperate for any sign of her.

Body Found Near Last Known Location

Tragedy struck on September 14 when a farmer found a body while bringing sheep into a field between Hassocks and Burgess Hill, close to where Rebecca was last seen. Sussex Police confirmed the discovery, saying:

“Sadly, the body of a woman was found on Sunday in Hassocks. The family of missing Rebecca Holdham has been informed and is being supported by our officers. Enquiries are ongoing to confirm the woman’s identity.”

A police tent now stands in a private field overshadowed by a nearby windmill. The site is secluded, with no public footpath.

Friends Express Shock and Grief

Kerry Malby, a close friend, shared her disbelief:

“She’s a devoted mum and this is completely out of character. She wouldn’t just leave her children. We can’t understand it. In a very short space of time, she has just completely vanished. We’ve no idea if she left of her own accord or if she’s been taken.”

The investigation continues as police work to confirm the identity of the body and uncover what happened to Rebecca Holdham.
