Maidstone Council Launches Push for Stylish, Sustainable Developments
Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is calling on locals, businesses, and stakeholders to have their say on a crucial new plan. The council wants your input on the Design and Sustainability Development Plan Document, which aims to raise the bar for new builds across the borough.
Protecting Maidstone’s Unique Character
Cllr Paul Cooper, Lead Member for Planning and Infrastructure, said: “Maidstone comprises a rich tapestry of built and natural environment. We want to preserve the unique character of urban and rural areas while pushing for top-notch design and sustainability in new homes and neighbourhoods.”
This document will add to Maidstone’s existing Local Plan and upcoming review, ensuring every new development ticks the boxes for quality design and green standards.
Have Your Say on Maidstone’s Future
The council is running a Regulation 18 Scoping consultation from 28 October to 12 December 2022. They want your views on key themes affecting design and sustainability in the borough.
“One of our key aims is for the borough to be attractive for visitors and an enjoyable and prosperous place for our residents. To deliver the new development Maidstone needs, while supporting thriving communities and the economy, good design and sustainability must be at the heart of every proposal,”
– Cllr Paul Cooper
