Jermaine Jenas Admits Sending ‘Inappropriate Messages’ After BBC Sacking
Former BBC presenter Jermaine Jenas has confessed to sending “inappropriate messages” to women following his swift dismissal from the corporation. The ex-footballer, once a pundit on Match of the Day and co-host of The One Show, lost his BBC contract amid allegations about his conduct.
‘Nothing Physical’ – But Jenas Admits to Cheating
The 41-year-old insisted that “nothing physical ever happened” but admitted he was “cheating” on his wife through the messages. Jenas said, “I’m not proud of what I wrote and what I said. This is all on me, and I fully accept there is a level of responsibility that needs to be upheld when you’re a member of the BBC.”
Messages With Two Adults, But Jenas Says Sorry
Jenas revealed the messages were with “two consenting adults” and in one instance, the woman “made it clear she was interested.” Despite this, he issued a heartfelt apology to his loved ones. “I have let myself down, my family, friends, and colleagues down, and I owe everyone an apology—especially the women with whom I was messaging. I am so, so sorry.”
Self-Destructive Streak: Jenas Seeks Help
The married father-of-four admitted he has a “self-destructive streak” and recognised he needs help. “I think it would be fair to say I have a problem. I know I self-sabotage and have a self-destructive streak when it comes to my relationship especially, and I know I need help. And I am getting help.”
Jenas also confirmed he started therapy before the claims surfaced. “I have made a lot of mistakes, and I am asking myself a lot of questions at the moment. I know there’s a lot of work that needs to be done, and it will be hard.”
Jermaine Jenas Faces Fallout, Trying to Rebuild
The former football star’s admission comes as he attempts to take responsibility and rebuild his personal life following the backlash and BBC exit. The scandal has rocked his career and public standing, but Jenas appears determined to make amends.
