Blaze Devastates End-of-Terrace Home, Leaves Two Treated for Smoke Inhalation
A fierce fire tore through an end-of-terrace house, destroying the staircase and ravaging most of the ground floor. The flames also damaged the first floor and the scaffolding outside.
Smoke and Flames Engulf Property Before Firefighters Arrive
Station Commander Mick Palmer revealed the fire started in a back room before spreading through the ground floor and stairwell.
“The fire started in a back room of the property and spread through the ground floor and stairs,” said Commander Palmer.
Crews arrived to thick smoke billowing from the front and roaring flames at the rear of the house.
Firefighters Battle Blaze for Nearly Two Hours
- The fire department was alerted at 12:41 a.m.
- Firefighters from Edmonton, Tottenham, Walthamstow, and Stoke Newington rushed to the scene.
- The fire was finally brought under control at 2:36 a.m.
Before the Brigade arrived, a man and woman escaped the blaze and were treated on scene for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
