Rooftop Restaurant Ravaged by Fire in London
An open-air eatery atop a five-storey building went up in flames overnight. Luckily, no injuries have been reported so far.
Fire Brigade Swamped with Calls
London Fire Brigade’s 999 operators took 17 calls about the blaze. Firefighters from Stratford, Leytonstone, Poplar, Leyton, and Bethnal Green rushed to the scene.
High-Tech Ladder Key to Fight
Station Commander Dave Hill said: “One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders was used as an observation tower, giving crews an aerial view and better situational awareness. The ladder’s lighting also helped teams work in the dark.”
Road Closures and Ongoing Investigation
The fire broke out just after midnight, at 12:07 am, and was brought under control by 12:51 am. Great Eastern Road remains closed both ways while firefighters stay on site tonight.
The cause of the fiery blaze is still under investigation.
