A devastating incident occurred in south London on 27 May when Rakesh Pai, 47, his wife Aditi Paralkar, 46, and their nine-year-old son Sid fell from their 36th-floor balcony at the Highpoint tower in Elephant and Castle. Emergency services were called at 7:29am and despite paramedics’ efforts, all three were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Pai family, originally from India, lived on the 36th floor of the 46-storey block. Mr Pai worked in finance consultancy while Ms Paralkar was employed in construction. They had travelled to India for Sid’s medical treatment in 2020 but returned last year after no improvement.
