Man Trapped Under Train in Dramatic Kent Rescue
A major emergency rescue unfolded at Headcorn station, Kent, after a man was struck and trapped beneath a train on Sunday evening.
Specialist Teams Rush to Scene
- Emergency services including Kent Fire and Rescue USAR, British Transport Police, Kent Police, and South East Coast Ambulance were called to platform two at around 6.30pm on 12 March.
- Specialist lifting equipment was brought in to free the trapped individual.
- Doctors from the Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance joined the rescue operation.
- A highly trained HART team from South East Coast Ambulance also provided expert support alongside fire crews and paramedics.
Train Station Shut, Passengers Evacuated
Headcorn station was closed for the duration of the rescue. Passengers onboard the train were safely evacuated and moved from the platform.
Life-Threatening Injuries as Man Flown to Hospital
Firefighters worked with Network Rail specialists to carefully lift the train using blocks and free the man. He was treated at the scene by medics before being rushed to hospital under police escort.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Headcorn at 6.37pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics attended and a man was taken to hospital. His injuries are currently believed to be life-threatening. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
