Stolen Car Crashes on Newhaven Swing Bridge, Narrowly Misses Pedestrians
Emergency crews raced to Newhaven Swing Bridge this evening after a stolen car smashed into the railings, just inches from unsuspecting passersby. The metal barriers between the road and pavement prevented what could have been a serious disaster.
Four Youths Flee Scene on Foot
An eyewitness revealed, “Four youths jumped out of the smashed car and ran towards the railway station.” The dramatic crash forced the closure of the A259 while emergency services secured the scene.
No Injuries, But Shaken Locals
Fortunately, no one was hurt, though some pedestrians were left shaken by the close call. Police suspect the vehicle involved was stolen, and investigations are underway.
