Storm Gareth Wreaks Havoc: Isle of Wight and South Coast Slammed by 60mph Winds
Storm Gareth has unleashed chaos across the South Coast, with fierce winds roaring up to 60mph. The Isle of Wight and surrounding areas are bearing the brunt, as travel grinds to a halt and residents brace for more stormy fury.
Travel Mayhem as Winds Pound the South Coast
The Met Office has slapped a yellow weather warning across the South Coast, warning of savage gusts hitting 50-65mph. Early Monday reports predicted inland winds up to 55mph and coastal blasts reaching 65mph, making journeys a nightmare.
Power Cuts and Coastal Damage Loom
Authorities warn of possible power outages as Storm Gareth’s relentless assault rocks the region. Coastal communities face the double threat of massive waves and spray battering shores, risking damage and disruption.
Storm Season Rages On: Another Named Gale Incoming
As if Gareth wasn’t enough, the Met Office has confirmed a second named storm is on its way, set to strike during Tuesday’s rush hour. Weather warnings remain active throughout the week, including more yellow alerts for strong winds on Wednesday.
“Gusts of 50-55mph (80-88kmh) are likely inland and up to 65mph (104kmh) along the Southcoast. Winds will gradually ease during the afternoon,” the Met Office said.
Commuters and residents are urged to stay alert and prepare for ongoing disruptions as Storm Gareth and its successor batter Britain’s southern shores.
