Surfers and Coastguard Team Up to Rescue Stranded Pair at Seven Sisters
Birling Gap Coastguard sprung into action for the second time this Tuesday after surfers raised the alarm about two people cut off by the tide beneath the iconic Seven Sisters cliffs.
Quick-Thinking Surfers Help Save the Day
Having just stood down from a previous callout, the coastguard was deployed again. The brave surfers helped guide the stranded duo to safety before handing them over to the coastguard team.
However, the rescue wasn’t without hiccups — one surfer lost their surfboard during the operation. Newhaven lifeboat was paged at 2:05 pm but stood down shortly after leaving the port.
Grateful Victims and Coastguard Praise
“Great respect to the surfers and hope you located your abandoned board!” said Birling Gap Coastguard.
“The two rescued were very grateful to the surfers and everyone involved.”
Coastguard Issues Tide Warning
The coastguard urges everyone to always check tide times before walking under the cliffs to avoid getting trapped.
