Duchess of Cornwall Set to Launch Red Funnel’s New Red Jet 7
The Duchess of Cornwall is gearing up to christen Red Funnel’s spanking new ferry, Red Jet 7, at a swanky ceremony in Cowes on Tuesday, 24th July. The Isle of Wight Council spilled the beans today (Friday), revealing the Duchess will also swing by Osborne House, just across the River Medina.
Dame Judi Dench Joins Royal Visit to Osborne House
At Osborne House, the Duchess will be joined by none other than Dame Judi Dench. It’s been over a decade since the Duchess last toured the historic spot in 2009, so she’ll get a firsthand look at the refurbishments and changes since her last visit.
Action-Packed Osborne Horse Trials Await
The Duchess will also preview preparations for the London Capital and Finance Osborne Horse Trials. This thrilling event runs from 25th to 26th July at Osborne House and promises plenty of excitement with dressage and show jumping competitions every afternoon.
Walkabout and Ferry Naming Ceremony in Cowes
Before the ferry launch, the Duchess will take a brief walkabout around Cowes, meeting locals and visitors alike. The highlight? Officially naming the new Red Jet 7 – the latest pride of Red Funnel’s fleet.
Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, Major General Sir Martin White, said: “It will be a pleasure to welcome Her Royal Highness back to the Island where she will not only be able to meet Islanders and visitors but also see some of the changes that have been made in the intervening years.”
