Terror suspect detained at Heathrow Airport

Detectives from the Met Police Counter Terrorism Command have arrested a man on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts contrary to section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. The man, a 29-year-old Finnish national, was stopped by police officers under schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000 at approximately 2305hrs on Sunday, 10 June, as he attempted to board a connecting flight at Heathrow Airport. The arrest does not relate to offences at the airport. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts at around 0500hrs on 11 June, and held in custody under the Terrorism Act at a south London police station. Counter terrorism detectives were granted a warrant of further detention yesterday, Tuesday, 12 June. This will expire at approximately 2300hrs on Sunday, 17 June.
