Woman Dies in Horror Crash on M11 Near Harlow
A woman in her 30s has tragically died after a multi-vehicle smash on the M11 southbound near Harlow last night. The crash happened just after 10.10pm on Saturday 26 September between junction 8 (Stansted) and junction 7 (Harlow).
Multiple Cars Involved in Collision
Police say an Audi first slammed into the central reservation before crashing into a BMW and a VW Passat. The Audi passenger suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to her wounds.
Officers believe another vehicle may have been involved but have no description yet. They’re urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward—especially if they saw any interaction between the Audi and other cars.
Road Closure and Investigation Underway
The M11 was shut between junctions 8 and 7 for a full investigation. Officers worked through the night to clear traffic jams, but the road could stay closed until mid-morning.
Sergeant Alex Black of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This was a horrific collision with a tragic outcome. We need to establish exactly what happened.”
“If you have any information or footage, please come forward. We only get one chance to collect evidence, and it’s vital to give the victim’s family answers.”
“Thanks to drivers for their patience during the delays.”
