Cyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on Bournemouth’s A338 Spur Road
Police are hunting witnesses after a tragic crash on the A338 Spur Road in Bournemouth. The fatal collision happened at 10.39pm on Tuesday, 3 October 2017, about a mile from the Ashley Heath roundabout.
White Mercedes Van Linked to Deadly Crash
Officers say a white Mercedes panel van struck a 30-year-old cyclist from Poole. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed, and the coroner involved.
Road Closure and Van Search Underway
Emergency crews shut the road between Ashley Heath roundabout and Blackwater junction to manage the scene. Police launched a hunt for the van, which was later spotted in Southampton. The driver remains at large.

Chief Inspector Heather Dixey, Dorset Police, said: “We have specially-trained officers supporting the cyclist’s family at this difficult time. I appeal to anyone who saw the vehicle or cyclist before or during the incident to contact us immediately.”
