Chaos erupted at a Wood Green cinema today as six fire engines and around 40 firefighters rushed to tackle a blaze that damaged part of the roof.
Mass Evacuation Saves the Day
About 800 people were evacuated safely before the fire brigade even arrived. Firefighters then assisted staff in ensuring the building was completely cleared.
Swift Response Controls the Flames
- A staff member raised the alarm after spotting smoke from a rooftop sign.
- Fire crews from Hornsey, Southgate, Tottenham, and Stoke Newington arrived swiftly.
- The fire was reported at 1.20pm and brought under control by 2.33pm.
Electrical Fault Behind the Blaze
The fire was traced back to an electrical fault in a lighting unit on the cinema’s roof, officials confirmed.
