Silent Witness Welcomes Exciting New Cast Members

Fans of the hit BBC crime drama Silent Witness have plenty to look forward to as the latest series rolls out, featuring fresh faces and gripping new storylines.

Meet Gabriel Folukoya: The Brainy Neurologist

Aki Omoshaybi, known for roles in The Pursuit Of Love and Queens Of Mystery, joins as Gabriel Folukoya. Gabriel is an academic neurologist and pathologist whose forte lies in cutting-edge data analysis rather than hands-on autopsies.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join such a long-running and much-loved series,” says Aki. “Gabriel prefers to computer model an autopsy than slice a body, but he knows he needs people like Nikki and Jack to balance out his skills. He’s at a turning point in his life, ready to open up and be more vulnerable.”

Velvy Schur: The New Trainee with a Complex Past

Alastair Michael from Ridley Road and Snatch takes on Velvy Schur, the Lyell’s new Anatomical Pathology Technologist trainee. Velvy’s story is compelling — he’s left his ultra-Orthodox Jewish community behind and is navigating the tricky path between his faith and new secular life.

Alastair shares: “Velvy is on an intriguing journey, moving from an Orthodox community into the secular world. He’s still adjusting and sometimes his curiosity ruffles feathers. It’ll be fascinating to see how he fits into the Lyell.”

Cara Connelly Returns Stronger Than Ever

Rhiannon May returns as Jack’s niece, Cara Connelly, now a regular character. Cara bursts back onto the scene announcing she’s starting a criminology degree, forcing Jack to let her stay.

Rhiannon says: “Cara is determined to find her independence after leaving her overprotective mum in Belfast. She’s eager to spread her wings and take on the world.”

BBC Execs Hype Up The New Series

Suzi McIntosh, Executive Producer at BBC Studios, promises a thrilling series: “Silent Witness is back with a bang. We have fantastic new additions to the Lyell team and can’t wait for audiences to see the stories unfold.”

Nawfal Faizullah, BBC Executive Producer, adds: “After a hugely successful anniversary series, Silent Witness returns better than ever, led by our amazing leads Emilia and David alongside exciting new cast members.”

Record-Breaking Success

The 25th anniversary series, launched in May 2022, is already one of the BBC’s top five scripted shows this year. The first episode drew an impressive 8.3 million viewers in its first 30 days.

With fresh faces, gripping plots, and record ratings, Silent Witness continues to prove why it remains a true TV crime sensation.
