Disaster Averted on M3: Lorry Found with Missing Wheel Nuts and Hazardous Load

Highway Horror Dodged

Keen-eyed officers stopped a HGV on the M3 at 11am today after spotting a terrifying fault during routine motorway patrols. Four out of six wheel nuts on the offside were missing, with the remaining two dangerously close to snapping off. It was a disaster waiting to happen.

Hazardous Materials on Board

The lorry wasn’t just unsafe—it was hauling hazardous materials including gas canisters. If the tyres had failed, the canisters could have spilled across the carriageway, causing chaos and potential injury.
